IPKKND Hall of Fame - July

THE WORLD OF ISS PYAR KO KYA NAAM DOON

[Fan Fiction which is set within the world of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon, there may be slight change in the story line and timelines but for the most part the world of IPKKND remains intact and the writers have not taken liberties with the characters or the settings]

Second Hand News by Nayika

The brilliance of this piece actually lies in the short bursts of beautiful writing that transports one to the site of the actual event. Just like certain emotions lose their value if reduced to the mundanity of words..in my personal opinion this piece would, perhaps lose its beauty had it gone beyond where the writer so cleverly ended it. Ending it at such a juncture I am sure must have been against popular demand.  Kudos to Nayika for not just this piece but also for withstanding the pressure ;) of her ardent fans.

Perfection by Napstermonster
[Mature Content]

Although I hate clichés just as much as the next person'but trust me it is not a clich when I say'"Perfection" is indeed perfection! The transcendence of emotions is palpable with its intensity. This is perhaps one of the best pieces you will find within the IPKNND world...if you are searching for a piece that continues from where the onscreen emotional intensity ends and takes it one notch up.  No mean feat for the writer, I might add, to be able to communicate all of this through such a fickle medium as an internet forum.

Colors of the Wind by Meera30
[Mature Content]

So..boy meets girl...girl meets boy...they both hate each...or so they think..till they realize its attraction..nay love...and then misunderstandings happen...and lo and behold they are married...that's it in a nutshell...Right!?! How many spins on that can there be...! Well you'd be surprised to know...! Im still counting and filtering'!

But...but...but...hang on...there is something so very different here...reflections of the past woven into the present'that brings the actual show'what you see on the screen...alive in this piece with the help of lovely flashbacks. Its not only different but its refreshing. And all color coordinated, to boot! [Dear Meera, the comment about color coordination, is not in jest, it is actually a compliment, for your creative touch]

The skill of the author has to be admired.

An Arranged Marriage by Krani

As I said above...so how different do you think it can be....and as I said before...you sure would be surprised!

Krani ki Kahani is special, because of the care and attention to detail with which the author is crafting this tale. You can tell by reading it that there is no hurry here to develop a plot..its a gradual development...so that each character comes out into its own. And what is most enjoyable is the fact that the flavor of IPKKND is not lost at all..you actually feel as if you are reading a written update of an episode that you missed rather than a piece of fiction.

Second Chance by Gargee
[Mature Content]

Another version of the IPKKND world...but interestingly different..each player has a (pleasantly) stronger character. I enjoy reading this author's work..(despite the wait)...for the manner in which the characters are developed...the plot unfolds and the consequences of acts...past and present..that are narrated. Perhaps this piece is also enjoyable in a "what could have been" sort of way...the flip side of the coin. I would not give this piece a miss.

Behind that Smile by Lyra99

This piece has been recommended by the author herself and is undoubtedly the favorite of many a reader. A lovely offering by our in-house star of romance. The more i read this particular author's work the more i appreciate her writing style in respect of her particular genre. The story is emotionally charged but handled with such tender delicacy that it leaves you amazed. I found this piece to have depth in terms of the plot as well as the characters and the outcome of their acts, as demanded by the storyline. And most importantly of all neither the characters nor their interactions fell flat, which could so easily have been the case. Similarly each and every reaction rang true and natural and was not over done or artificial. So yes, definitely recommended when you are looking for hearts, stars, love and ever after.

The Lovestory on Page 3 by Napstermonster

This piece has also been recommended by the author, and i am not at all surprised as to why! It is a superbly written highly entertaining piece. As different from the first offering by this author featured in IHF, Perfection, as it possibly could be, as also noted by the author. (Please do not miss the Author's Note once you are done reading). I so enjoyed reading this piece and boy how i read it! Read it on the iPad under the duvet with eyes almost drooping shut, but just could not let it go till i finished the very last line. I am so not going to spoil the surprise for this one, read it and enjoy! Napster has not disappointed me ever, to date!

SLIDING DOORS

[Fan Fiction which is based on the theme of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon i.e. the main protagonists are present and may have similar characteristics, but the settings are / maybe different. Additional charters from the world of IPKKND may be present and additional and / or fictional characters may be added]

The Games We Play by Minimuffin86  (better known as Munchy86)
[Mature Content]

This piece appears so relevant in the current Di Chotay strained relationship. Perhaps not my favourite piece by the Muffinmonster...but has to be read...firstly for it is set in the IPKKND world 'and secondly in order to better appreciate Munchy's growth as a writer and the heights she has reached in the short span of 1 year...one has to read it.

Note: I would have preferred to place this in the above category...as it doesn't really fit in this one..but well...

Before the Last Sun Sets by Munchy86
[Mature Content]

Real life is not about pinks pearls and pompoms'its about dirt grit and well...i suppose...the trademark jalebis..! A truly enthralling saga of the parallel lives of KKG and ASR. If you read only one parallel...well...what more can I say. It will be very hard to forget this ASR'he has been immortalized by the Muffinmonster.

Filigreed Sun by Serial Junkie
[Mature Content]

Oh how I wish the lovely Serial Junkie would expand her repertoire (if I am missing something my dear SJ, my most humble apologies indeed).

Not because I would shun the Filigreed Sun'no chance of that'.but simply because I cant wait to read more by a writer who would spin such a fine gossamer web'.here a thread of passion'there a thread of intrigue'a simple knot of secrets untold'all kept afloat by that ole' devil called love...but not as you would normally recognize him ;)

Pandora's Box by Munchy86
[Mature Content]

Yet another brilliant offering by the Muffinmonster'(the muffin basket floweth). This is a truly remarkable piece but not for the faint hearted. The pictures of a bygone era drawn by the author's words are vivid and crisp'coloured by the hues of raw emotion flowing through the entire piece'whether it be the joy of first love or the pain of separation. It is difficult to decide as to which chapter would be ranked as the best...each new offering outdoes the previous one.

Rules of Attraction by Mistyrains
[Mature Content]

The beauty of Rules of Attraction lies in the sense of serenity that pervades (what I would consider) the first half of this wonderful piece'and equally beautiful is the chaos that tears that serenity asunder. This piece will always be special for me for it transported me to my beloved Delhi..you can feel the sights and sounds that are so integral to the City of Djinns.

Mirage by Molten Lava
[Mature Content]

Lava Girl just astounds me with each chapter. This is no fairy tale of just simple and sweet Rabba Ves'it's the story of life...being written while it is being lived'or so you feel when you read it. But than you feel perhaps its not a story, really'rather it feels more like a daily dose of the memoirs of a sweet innocence and love'.in a world of dark deeds and even darker consequences.

Twist of Fate by Mistyrains

There is a sense of uncluttered simplicity in Mistyrains' writing that communicates even the most complex emotions without complicating it with unnecessary words'which is so the element of Arnav and Khushi's relationship. And this particular piece showcases this most profoundly.

It takes a special kind of writer to pull the transportation trick..to pick you up from the narrow confines of your mundane world wherever it maybe and transport you to another world...and each writer featured here has that capability in truckloads!!!!  I realize I am digressing but every time I think of transportation I cant help but think of one of such writer perhaps not too well read'that is the queen of transporting you to a colonial India. M. M. Kaye. It's a shame she is just known for her Far Pavilions'for she is at her transportational best in Shadow of the Moon.

Highway to Hell by Madmaxine

This is one brilliant piece of work...details in the Review.

You've Got Mail by Arisai

Honestly...you just cannot give this one a miss! I am still chuckling at the ingenuity of this piece...it is superbly entertaining...very well written..and surprisingly at no point does it loose its continuity...which could have easily been the case. If you want an entertaining and highly humorous read..make sure you read this one.

Across the Universe by Munchy86
[Mature Content]

Another brilliant piece from the Muffinmonster..the concept is quite different and unusual and perhaps not that easily digestible for a die hard ASR-Khushi fan...should be read to understand that life really is nothing but two sides of the same coin..you just need perception to see it. I really enjoyed the walk down memory lane with bhool bhuliyaan and the bawli... and am immensely enjoying the weft and weave of the relationship between the protagonists...and would recommend it for real life lessons embedded within.

Shades of Grey by Gargee and Bingala
[Mature Content]

This piece was originally listed in Notable Mentions...No way is this just a Notable Mention...it needs to be in the main category...this is such a Hall of Famer!!

So Shades of Grey is now in the main category!!

An interesting take on past sins...a piece that showcases Gargee's trademark gradual development of the storyline...the use of song is well thought out and enhances the scene setting...(loved the use of Faiz)...ASR in such a different avatar is well...quite...unusual and unexpected...but i found this a slow starter..so do hold your horses and give it a chance...dont give up on it too quickly...it will engage you once you get involved and then you won't be able to wait for the next installment. Emotionally Charged...a Must Read!!
